Ch. 1

Harry woke up to the musty smell of his tattered pillow. He rolled over in bed and stared and the blurry ceiling. It was early morning before the Dursleys were up, when the house was still quiet and he still had peace. It was his favorite time of day where he still had the peace to let his thoughts consume him. He lay there staring at the ceiling. His birthday was tomorrow. He would be sixteen. Sixteen. He chuckled to himself at the recent memory of his cousin Dudley's celebration. Dudley had been so mad when he found out that he hadn't gotten the car of his dreams. His uncle and aunt had to stay in the other room, for fear of the flying china. He chuckled once more at the thought of muggles having to wait until they were sixteen to feel freedom. Harry remembered the feeling of being away and independent at age eleven. Hogwarts, the word instantly brought a thousand thoughts along with it. Dudley made fun of him for being a wizard but he didn't know what it was like. The spells, his friends and Quidditch. Quidditch. Driving a car was nothing compared to flying on a broomstick, where every inch of you is pulsing forward anxiously striving for the next move. A thud brought Harry back from his daydreams, and he quickly grabbed his glasses and sat up. Hedwig was trying to land on his windowsill with many difficulties because the window was shut. Harry got up and let her in and tried to shut the window with out making much noise. "Hedwig, you have to be more patient when we are here," Harry scolded, "you know the Dursleys would have you thrown out in a second if they could!" Hedwig looked annoyed and gave Harry a little nip to prove it. But she was ok after that. Harry untied the parchment attached to Hedwig's right foot. Slowly he unrolled it to read a hand written message;

Harry! This has kind of started to be a tradition eh? Anyway, Ron here, (obviously) and I just got it cleared with my mum that you and Hermoine can come to stay this summer again. Mum was a little uneasy at first because of me and Hermione's ummm, special relationship, but I convinced her that you were there too and she was all in a meddle and just finally said yes! Uggg things here have been so hectic here. Dad's work has been driving us all mad, but it we can just hide all day or something, anyway, I got your letters and I hope you got mine, (Errol practically died several occasions, one involving a weather vane, I'll tell you later,) but yeah. SO can you come? Ask your bloody muggle clan if they will allow you to come. (Fred and George have invented some new pranks, some quite a nasty mess I'm afraid, but they could help with the convincing if you need it) write back soon, Please! Ron

(p.s., Hemione already said yes, so you have to too!)

Harry stared at the note and then immediatly started to pack. He would have to move quickly to get the Dursley's approval..
