The Case That Jack Built
by Kyllikki (kyllikki8@hotmail.com)

This is the case that Jack built.

This is the man who died in the case that Jack built.

This is the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This is the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This is the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This is the boyfriend, primed to betray,
Who rolled on the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This is Lennie at a soiree
To arrest the boyfriend, primed to betray,
Who rolled on the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This is the warrant, slightly delayed,
Used by Lennie at the soiree
To arrest the boyfriend, primed to betray,
Who rolled on the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This, the defense motion (to Jack's dismay)
To exclude the warrant because of delay
Used by Lennie at the soiree
To arrest the boyfriend, primed to betray,
Who rolled on the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

This is the judge with the crusty toupee
Who granted defense motion (to Jack's dismay)
To exclude the warrant because of delay
Used by Lennie at the soiree
To arrest the boyfriend, primed to betray,
Who rolled on the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

These are the charges dismissed that same day,
Thanks to the judge with the crusty toupee
Who granted defense motion (to Jack's dismay)
To exclude the warrant because of delay
Used by Lennie at the soiree
To arrest the boyfriend, primed to betray,
Who rolled on the wife
Who fired the gun
That matches the bullet
Pulled out of the man
Who died in the case that Jack built.

A scholar described the logic of a particular Supreme Court decision as "readily identifiable to anyone familiar with 'The House That Jack Built.'" Clearly, something had to be done. Also, I think I need to get more sleep. :)
