Author's Note: I don't own LotR nor am I Tolkein, a member of the filming crew or Peter Jackson. I have no idea what happened during the filming. I made it all up. Shadis and Reggie are the only characters that belong to me. If this story resembles any others I'm sorry, I haven't read your stories so this is all my brain child. Oh, and Flamers and Leet speakers will be publicly disemboweled.

When I received my orders from Lord Elrond I figured that the best way to keep an eye on the filming would be to join the crew itself. The problem is, I don't officially exist as a person in this world. Granted, you don't get to be 2,000 years old without making some connections, so I went to the hose of the best hacker I know and knocked on the door.

"Hello?" a mousy voice squeaked as the door opened.

"Hey Reggie! It's Shadis. May I come in?" Reggie was the only person who knew that I was really an elf. I had come to him when I had first arrived in New Zealand. Actually, I had been standing in his overgrown backyard deciding whether or not to set up camp when his dog jumped me.

"Shadis! Hey! What can I do for you?"

"Well.I need to get a life"

"Dang. That's a tough one. Let's go inside and talk."

Once inside I explained to him what I needed to do and that I needed him to help me with official papers such as birth certificates, driver's license, tax forms and whatnot.

"Ok, let's start with the basics. When were you born?"

"In the Third Year."

"Nooo, how old do you want to be?"

"How old do I look?"

"Hmmm.," Reggie hoped that wasn't a loaded question," I'd say about 24."

"Then make it 26. I'll just look young for my age."

"All right, now what's your name?"

"I think I'll stick with Shadis Moonstone..Smith, yeah, Shadis Moonstone Smith. My parents were hippie throwbacks."

Reggie laughed," Ok, so who are your parents?"

"Shelia Lenardy and Bart Smith. They died."

"How?"

"I don't know, be creative and think it up yourself."

"All right. Come back in a week and I should have everything ready."

"Thanks Reg. See you in a week."

"Don't thank me; just take some cool pictures for me. Oh, and figure out what to do about those ears."

As I headed back to camp I realized he was right. I would either need to come up with a good reason for me to have pointy ears or figure out how to hide them. I also needed to figure out what type of job I wanted and how to make sure I got it. A week found me at Reggie's home again. I had decided to try for a position in the costuming department since I make all of my clothes. Reggie had given me an entire life! I had been home-schooled, hadn't gone to college, and had worked in theatres across New Zealand. I even had a bank account! Getting the job I wanted was a problem, but with my "prior work experience" I was chosen to work in On-Set Wardrobe. That meant I got to be on the sets helping with costume changes, quick fixes, etc. I had explained my ears were a birth defect and kept them covered up with my long blonde hair most of the time. The actors played their parts so well that as I watched the filming it was almost as if I were reliving the past. Lord Elrond had a right to be concerned.

I'm not done. Read and Review and you might possibly be in my next Author's Note! Ideas for future chapters or segments appreciated. I've got this figured out but ideas help keep from being boring!
