A/N: This is a short and I mean SHORT one short piece. I'm not sure if I should continue or not . . . what do you think? Please lemme know if you want me to continue and I'll try my best!

Harsh reality.

A thick, dark cloud settled over the city as the winter months slowly began to settle in. A mixture of rain clouds and smog hovered above the tall sky scrapers until the loud and unmistakable clash of thunder echoed around the depressing metropolis, frightening animals, small children and the elderly.

Sitting alone, staring blankly out the window as he sipped a warm cup of black coffee was Kai, his face hidden to the streets outside by a huge stack of school books, only his crimson eyes peering out into the streets that were quickly becoming flooded.

He inspected his nails, idly thinking about groceries,

"Milk . . . eggs . . . bread . . ." The usual, he thought, "Chocolate biscuits . . . cat food . . ." Kai sighed, lowering his gaze to the grey table top as he finish his drink, the lingering taste, bitter on his tongue.

He missed Ray. There was no other explanation. The Chinese adolescent that had captured his heart back in the days where they had been team mates had long since disappeared from his dreary life.

Oh, they had had their fun, just like any other couple in love, but barely a year ago, tragedy had struck. Ray's hometown had been attacked, engulfed within a tower of flames, nothing remained. The village boy had taken it pretty bad, blaming himself for not being there.

Kai huffed, dropping a small tip onto the centre of the table before picking up his stack of books. The day Ray had left; his whole world had turned upside down, denying everything in his life, even Beyblading. He was a changed man now, no turning back,

"But you still love him." A voice echoed around in his mind,

"Shut up! You don't know what you're talking about!" He scolded himself, stepping out into the harsh rain,

"Even the rain reminds you . . ." The voice taunted from the back of his mind.

No matter how hard Kai tried to deny it, the rain DID remind him of Ray. Ray standing in the rain, staring blankly out into the abyss before him. The abyss of stardom that their expert Beyblade skill had acquired them.

After their 15 minutes in the spotlight, the Blade breakers had broken apart, Kenny running off to work for some big company, Max joining forces with his mother whilst Tyson just wondered off somewhere on his own, leaving Kai and Ray alone with only one another for comfort. This displeasure did not last long with the uncovering of feelings.

Kai shook off these thoughts, desperately trying to avoid the smiling image of his former lover that now seemed to haunt him wherever he went,

"Damn weather!" He cursed, leaning forwards as he walked, head bent down.

As he passed the old hobby shop, he was jolted out of his thoughts as a tall teen, about the same age and height of himself, rammed into him. A long slither of thik black hair lapped at the two forms in their brief contact,

"Sorry." The figure murmured before hurrying off into the crowd,

"So you damn well should be!" Kai growled, taking a few steps forwards before stopping.

He whirled around; glaring accusingly into the crowd but the figure was gone,

"Could it be . . .?" He thought, staring back into the bustling crowd. Each person struggling desperately to escape the harsh weather.

Alone again.
