Elanor peeked into the old study, to find Uncle Frodo with his back, and seemed to be looking through a box. Elanor smiled softly, and tiptoed into the room, and stopped right behind the older hobbit.

"Uncle Frodo?" she asked softly.

Frodo spun around, a wild look in his eyes, but when he saw it was only Elanor, the look passed, and he smiled. "Yes, Elanor?"

Elanor smiled, and put her arms up, showing she wanted to be picked up. Frodo smiled wider, and reached down, and held her gently in his arms. "Mommy told me to come get you. Dinner's ready."

Frodo brushed Elanor's bangs away from her eyes. "All right. I'll be down in one minute."

Elanor grinned. "One minute?"

Frodo nodded, grinning also. "One minute. Now go and see if I make it in one minute, all right?"

Elanor nodded enthusiastically, and Frodo set her gently on the ground. She turned to run off, when she saw something in the box Frodo had been looking through. She quickly ran over to it, and stared at it in amazement.

"Uncle Frodo," she asked over her shoulder, as she cautiously put her hand out, to touch the glittering material. "What is this?"

At first Frodo didn't answer, and Elanor looked over her shoulder. He hadn't moved, and though he seemed to be staring at the material, he was looking past it. He was recalling old memories.

"It's nothing, Elanor," Frodo said, walking briskly over, and picking the box up. "Now go on. I'll be there in a moment." He put the lid back on the box, and then put the wooden box back on the shelf it had come down from.

"But where did you get it from?" Elanor asked, not wanting to leave just yet. "It was pretty."

"I got it from somewhere far away from here. Somewhere...." Frodo paused.

"Was that place very pretty?"

Frodo smiled softly. "Yes, it was." Then the smile faded, and he once again was recalling old memories.

Elanor frowned. "Tell me more about it." She gently took Frodo's hand. "Please?"

"Why don't I tell you after dinner?"

"Why not now?" Elanor said, and hugged Frodo. "It's not like you're going anywhere. You have time to tell me now."

Frodo paused. Not going anywhere.......

"Uncle Frodo?" Elanor asked, looking up when Frodo didn't answer. "What's wrong?"

Frodo sighed. "Elanor, listen. If I ever go anywhere, anywhere at all, remember that---"

Elanor looked up at the older hobbit. "Why would you be going somewhere?"

"That's not important. Just remember that I love you, and your father and your mother. And if I ever have to leave, I'll always be in your heart. Can you remember that for me?"

Elanor nodded slowly. "I hope you won't ever have to go anywhere, Uncle Frodo," she said, and hugged Frodo again. Then she took his hand, and began pulling him towards the door. "Now we have to go eat!"

Frodo smiled, and followed the young hobbit out of the room, and to the table. He remained silent for the rest of the night, thinking about what he had told Elanor. 'Yes,' he thought. 'They'll always be in my hearts, too.'
