STINGING IN MY EYES
Chapter one: a starry night
"This'll be the last day I guess" Hermione thought sadly, staring at Hogwarts from the grounds beneath. The rain was pelting down on her in the night, but she hardly noticed.
She looked like her mind was zoned out. Sitting there, eyes wide with disbelief, staring out beyond into nowhere.
She sat in the deep mud of the grounds, a perfect view of Hogwarts towering above her, over the rocky jagged hills.
Beams of moonlight dodged the flooding rain, shining onto Hermione's dull face.
Someone who would have been watching her would have jumped at that moment as Hermione, once still as a statue, made a sudden movement.
She curled her arms around her knees and rocked softly back and forth. She looks so vulnerable, like a lost child, but a lost child who knew they would never be found, one that would do anything to be found.
She slowly began to sing under her breathe, in a chocked sort of voice as tears leaked down her cheeks, a soft melody.
(To the tune of Hedwig's flight)
"Through all my life, I knew you, Saving us all from death, Until one night You left us all And fought 'til your very last breathe"
She paused for a while and sniffled, suddenly aware of the dead corpses of children and adults, scattered across the ground, covering Hogwarts' emerald green grass. Some of the faces she recognised, some she didn't. All the same she found it just as hard to look at any with out bursting into hysterical tears. All the same, all the faces looked terrified, bloody, and distraught.
The light from above shone on her more heavily, and the rain came down more harder as she carried on, staring at the diamond chipped sky.
"When I see the sky, I feel your eyes, Watching from the heavens above. O why must you, Be gone for good, I'm now all alone my love."
It was true, the war that had broken out of the dark VS light , had taken practically everyone at Hogwarts. Everyone but her. And for once in her life, she wished she hadn't survived.
