"Beneath A Star"
Once, on a harsh, cold winter's night, The moon itself was out of sight. The sky was dark, with no light to spare.
All hope seemed lost to a little girl, Who sits on the porch of her family's home. Her waist-length ebony hair, Blowing out behind her like silk, Scattered by the wind's mischief. Her hazel-gray eyes, Staring hopelessly into the night's dark sky, Without their usual cheerful spark.
She sat there, Staring at the dark, endless sea above her, Feeling lonely and depressed. Suddenly, a single star brightened the dark sky. It showered the little girl with a ray of hope. As small as it was, It gave a shower of light, Greater than any she had seen before.
As all little children do, She tightly closed her eyes and made a wish. A wish for the love and care of a friend, A wish made from the deepest depths of her heart.
Upon feeling something roll against her foot, She immediately opened her eyes. A rubber ball was rolling gently by her feet.
The sound of little feet pattering on the pavement was heard. She lifted her gaze to the source of the sound, To find a little boy, about her age, approaching.
His silver-white hair, Though slightly ruffled, Gave a glow as if gazing upon the moon. His golden-auburn eyes, Looking her intently and curiously, Shining brightly like the first rays of the sun upon dawn.
She picked up the ball as she waited for him, Their gazes never breaking.
He smiled slightly as she handed him the ball. Upon seeing him smile, She returned the favor and smiled shyly. As he saw her smiling back, His smile broke out into a toothy grin. She too grinned, But this time, With sparks of life and blissfulness shining in her eyes.
This was the beginning of an everlasting and everblooming friendship, Which later turned into something more.
