Fudge
A boy is killed in the Tri Wizard tournament. The hour grows late, and
Albus flies to the Ministry of Magic seeking my council. For that is why
you have come, is it not, my old friend?
Dumbledore Cornelius

FUDGE You are sure of this?
DUMBLEDORE Beyond any doubt.
FUDGE So the dark lord has risen
DUMBLEDORE All these long years he's been planning this, right under my nose.
FUDGE And you had not the wit to see it. Your love of the muggles has clearly slowed your mind.
DUMBLEDORE We still have time, time to counter Voldemort, if we act quickly.
FUDGE Time? What time do you think we have?
FUDGE and DUMBLEDORE inside the Ministry.
FUDGE Voldemort has regained much of his former strength. He cannot yet take physical form, but his spirit has lost none of its potency. Concealed he sees all. His gaze Looks over to us now, searching for the one boy he wants. You know of what I speak. A great spirit, bodiless, and waiting for revenge
DUMBLEDORE The spirit of Voldemort
FUDGE He is gathering all evil to him. Very soon he will have assembled groups of supporters large enough to assault the world.
DUMBLEDORE You know this? How?
FUDGE I have seen it.
They enter another room, where a stone sphere lies covered.
DUMBLEDORE A crystal ball is a dangerous tool.
FUDGE uncovers the stone.
FUDGE Why? Why should we fear to use it?
DUMBLEDORE They are not all accounted for, the other real crystal balls. You do not know who else may be watching.
As he re-covers the stone, DUMBLEDORE sees Voldemort
FUDGE The hour is later than you think. Voldemort's forces are already moving. Wormtail and Malfoy have started the spells
DUMBLEDORE Malfoy?
FUDGE They crossed the river Thames on midsummers eve, disguised as muggles in black
DUMBLEDORE They have reached Privet Drive
FUDGE They will find Harry, and kill the ones who Try to stop him
DUMBLEDORE Harry!
DUMBLEDORE tries to leave, but the doors slam, one by one.
FUDGE You did not truly think that an old, frail, teacher could contend with the will of Voldemort? There are none who can. Against the power of Voldemort there can be no victory. We must join him, Dumbledore. Join with Voldemort. It would be wise, old friend.
DUMBLEDORE Tell me, friend, when did Fudge the Wise abandon reason for madness?
They fight; DUMBLEDORE loses his wand and is captured.
FUDGE I offered you the choice of aiding me willingly, but you have elected the way of pain!
DUMBLEDORE rises toward the roof of the Ministry of Magic. Darkness.
Top of the ministry.
Fudge The friendship of Fudge is not lightly cast aside. One ill turn deserves another.
Fudge holding Dumbledore out over the edge of the Ministry
Fudge It is over. Embrace the power of the dark lord or embrace your own destruction.
Dumbledore The lord only has one master, himself. Only one may bend it to his will, and he does not share power.
Dumbledore jumps off the edge of the ministry, the newest racing broom catches him and they fly away.
Fudge So you have chosen death.
