Bring On the Night
Disclaimer: Yada, yada, blah, blah. I don't own them, but if I did I'd be pretty freakin' rich. Batman was created by Bob Kane, and all characters are owned by DC.
Rating: G, for all those little kids who want to be superheroes when they grow up. Lord knows I did, and still do sometimes.
Premise: This is just my tale on why Batman does what he does. If I seem a little too analytical forgive me, I'm a psych major.
It was another quiet night in the city of Gotham; I sometimes forget what the city was truly like. At night the city was dirty, seedy, the breeding grounds for hundreds of thousands of different types of scum, yet some how I prefer this to the daylight hours. I feel at ease, one with the shadows, knowing that the good I do helps in the long run. Each child abductor, each would-be rapist, each deranged killer I stop helps to make the city a haven. Even though I live for the nights, I work to make the days brighter. It is a necessity for me, a drive that forces me to continue what I do, for me it is no longer about vengeance, but about keeping my city safe. I do not do it out of duty, but out of respect, respect for Gotham City. To make the city what it once was, to honor the memory of a long fallen city. I look at the alley way where my parents were slain, and I think to myself one simple thought. I will continue to do my best, with the reaffirmation of my oath I take to the shadows again. Bring on the night, and long live the days.
