Dreaming away

Tonight I had a dream.

In the dream I was running, running through thick mist where it was dark, but not completely so, and a little green. Like I was running though the forest just before dusk.

In the dream I was alone with nothing except the far-away sound of my feet and my heavy breathing.

Inhale, exhale.

Inhale, exhale.

Inhale, exhale.

Then light appeared in front of me and above me, and the deep shade of green changed to a light yellow, as if I've run out of the forest now and was looking at the sun. The unclear light hurt my eyes and I felt warm, almost too warm.

The mist seemed to be moving and I felt something soft and airlike brush my arms and legs, something not solid, but it wasn't the wind.

Puzzled, I looked down at my hands, and saw two pairs of them; I then looked at my legs and saw also two pairs of them, not the way animals have four legs, but like I was two person at once.

I went on then, splashing into green water, and felt the piercing cold of it - the first clear feeling I had until then, and looked down on my reflection, which was, strangely, also clear even though a little green.

I saw two faces.

One was laughing, the other was crying.

I had two differently colored eyes that belonged to each of them, and both of them I knew. It's just that strangely, I can't remember the names. Also, there was something I couldn't quite put my finger onto, and I leaned down to really put a finger on it.

The movement broke the water and the faces fell in thousands of pieces, then disappeared. Instead, something shot out of the deep green void where it had been and twined itself around my ankles, then pulled. Pulled me underwater.

The icy cold enveloped me softly, and suddenly everything turned foggy and green again; the light far away, and I started to close my eyes...

(***) I looked at the ceiling for a while before sitting up, and slowly, I lifted my hands.

Two pairs.

It was dark, but instinct told me it was soon to be morning.

In the back of my consciousness, something stirred and a strange current of emotions that wasn't mine reminded me of the presence.

And I went back to sleep.
