Kovu: It's late.
He nuzzled her neck gently as the stars glistened in the everlasting heavens above. Kiara pushed away, slightly uncomfortable.
Kovu: What's wrong?
Kiara: I'm fine.
The tone of her voice almost scared Kovu. So, being the type who backs away at his problems, he simply let it go and walked inside the cave. Kiara looked up to the sky, tears glowing on her
pale cheek.
Shenzi: I am sure! Trust me, okay?
Old motherly Shenzi, coughing from the effects of her aging, stifled a hoarse laugh as her five hyena cubs darted around the den.
Kiomino: Mom! It's dangerous! Haven't you given up on it already?!
Kiomino, Shenzi's teenage daughter protested her mother not try to invade the Pride Lands. Shenzi was old but her spirit was still strong. She'd never give up, Kiomino was sure...even if it killed her.
Shenzi lay down while her oldest cub tugged at her ear.
Shenzi: [coughs] Ever since I met Taka and joined that hyena cult back when Simba was young I've had a passion for it. Clumsy friends of mine, Banzai and Ed, took the benefit of the doubt and decided it wouldn't hurt 'em. Sure...they'd be fine...just stay for a little while. Leave when they wanted to. Lemme tell you something, it wasn't easy to get out of. And now it's left me with something I feel like I've just gotta fufill. [stands and hobbles off]
[Enter Shenzi's mate, Jaka]
Kiomino: Daddy, what are we gonna do? Mom's too old to face the Pride Landers on her own.
Jaka: Nonsense. All she's doing is talking to Simba and getting things straightened out.
Kiomino: No! You don't understand! She's really-
Jaka: [yawns] KiKi, relax darling. Your old mom can take care of herself.
Kiomono: Da-
Jaka: [lays down] Give your father some rest, okay?
Irritated, and feeling ignored, Kimono trots out of the den and into the long stretch of meadow. Hovering above the distant hills, a chilly sunrise.
Kiomono: [to herself] Well, if they won't listen I'll just...have to figure this out on my own. [starts running in the opposite direction of the sunrise]
Why is Kiara so upset? What plans does Kiomono have for herself? Why is Shenzi so uptight? Stay tuned for Chapter Two! (if its here already, read on!) :)
