This is a Labyrinth inspired poem. Not one of my best, but the only one I'm posting right away. There may be more to come. (forgive the spacing of it, I haven't figured out how to get it right yet.) Andrea
Dance With Me
I catch sight of you across the floor,
and you walk over to me from afar.
A slight smile teases the corner of your lips,
as you hold your gloved hand out invitingly.
I shyly nod and accept your hand,
my fine silk gloves lightly resting on yours
as you encircle my waist with an arm
and lead me out into the room.
The room is dark and mystery clouds the
air like the fine musky scent of incense.
Opulent gowns and costumes enclose us,
as silent figures dance around this pair.
We are surrounded by beautiful strangers,
but I still have eyes only for you.
How have you stolen my attention?
I think it's your eyes; they're spellbinding.
Your figure is tall, dark and wondrously handsome,
With arms strong enough to do the work of many,
you hold me close with a gentle embrace,
leaving me feeling like I'm in heaven.
The strangers press closer, trying to pull us apart.
We ignore them because we're in love,
and no one else matters any more.
You merely smile and say Dance with me.
