The Language of Love
Sydney sat at her desk staring into space oblivious to the hustle of the office around her. As usual her thoughts had found their way to Vaughn, her all too appealing CIA handler, someone she wasn't even supposed to know existed but someone who meant more to her than anyone else she knew.
Love was a strange thing, amour, liebe, amor, amore, beminnen, kasih, elske. So many different ways to say one little word, in Greek there were four different ways to say it each meaning a different thing;
Storgei meaning to have a deep affection for something or someone
Philia meaning the love of friends found only in deep friendships
Eros focusing on the physical attraction between two people
Agapei an all-encompassing unconditional love that was always forgiving and caring
Sydney reflected on how lucky she was to have found love three times and to have finally found all four types of love in one person, well third time lucky she thought with a smile. She admired Vaughn and treasured him dearly as one of her closest friends and confidants but at the same time there had always been an unbelievable physical and spiritual bond between them something she knew would never, could never, be broken. He had always been there for her no matter what and he had managed to forgive her for her many sins and still see the good in her heart.
Sometimes Sydney felt Vaughn could see right through her and it wasn't a bad feeling, which should have scared her but it didn't. In her line of work for someone to be able to look into your eyes and see into your soul was a bad thing, but Vaughn wasn't the enemy. She knew her father would tell her that she couldn't afford to let down her guard with anyone because anyone could be an enemy but his view of things was jaded. Once upon a time Jack had thought he had found the perfect love but he had been proven wrong and stabbed in the back where it had hurt him the most. Sydney concluded that her Dad just didn't know how to trust someone with his whole heart anymore. Deep down in Sydney's soul she knew that Vaughn was the one, that gut feeling had to be right, didn't it? Of course it was right, Sydney sighed and went back to fantasising about what life would be like without protocol.

A/N: I know I probably spelt the Greek words wrong but the only translations I could find were in Cyrillic. If you know the correct spelling I would appreciate being told thanks. Please review and let me know what you think.
