"Marco, this isn't funny!"
Cassie glared at Marco with a mixture of fear, anger, and frustration. Marco twisted his wide smile into something he hoped resembled a supporting expression.
"Cass, relax." Her frightened eyes darted around the room, meeting his for a second before looking away.
"Relax? I can't relax. It's 6:55, I've got five minutes! What if I say something stupid, what if my outfit's too frumpy, what if."
"Why did you decide to meet here of all places?" Marco cut her off, hoping to avoid another panicked rant.
"Because my parents are home and while they're being supportive, they're not exactly thrilled about this whole dating thing. And for some odd reason," she said, jabbing him in the chest with a finger, "I thought talking to you would calm me down." She jabbed him again but kept her gaze down towards the floor.
"Cassie." Marco tilted her chin up so she was facing him and smiled gently.
She looked at him, expression still worried.
"Everything is going to go fine. Wonderful, in fact you'll have a great time."
"But."
"No. No buts."
Cassie's next words were interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. Her eyes widened comically and she spun around quickly and dashed toward the stairs at the end of the hall. Marco followed her, grinning, as she practically flew down the stairs. The smile grew wider as she halted before the door, frantic hands smoothing out invisible wrinkles and tucking non-existent flyaways behind ears. Finally, satisfied with her appearance she took a deep breath and opened the door to reveal an equally nervous looking Rachel.
------------------
Marco let out a whoosh of air as the door closed and the girls left.
Tobias peeked his head out from the kitchen before stepping into the living room. "Finally. I thought she was never going to leave."
Marco turned to him and grinned. "She was just a little nervous." He looked back at the front door. "I think they'll be fine."
Tobias walked behind Marco, kissed his neck, and wrapped his arms around Marco's shoulders. "Hopefully," he said smirking "Otherwise I'll have to listen to Rachel go over every part of the evening to figure out what she did wrong."
