I walked out of Transfiguration after another lesson dreaming about James Potter. Ok, so I spend all lessons dreaming about James Potter. It's hardly my fault. I just happen to think he's gorgeous.
'Hey Lily.' said a voice from behind me. I turned around to see, surprise surprise, James. He was grinning confidently. Then he held up a piece of parchment. 'You left this behind.'
Shit. I recognised that. That would be the one that had 'Lily Potter' and 'Lily and James 4eva' written all over it. I thought I put that in my bag. I could feel my cheeks starting to go pink.
He grinned even wider. 'Come on.' He grabbed my hand, and led me back into the Transfiguration classroom, which was now empty. My embarrassment had given way to curiosity. I was always a really curious person. That annoyed a lot of people, but I still managed to have a lot of friends. Somehow. Unsolved mystery.
He dragged me over to the desk he'd been sitting at that lesson, and pointed to a carving in the corner. I looked at it, and saw a heart with JP + LE carved in the middle. I could feel a smile starting at the corner of my mouth.
'Interesting.' I said, looking up at him.
'So tell me Lily.' he said, wrapping an arm around my waist, which I didn't really mind at all. 'If I like you, and you like me, then why aren't we going out?'
I pretended to think really hard. 'Umm…I don't know.'
He pulled me closer to him, and we were so close I could hardly breath. It was intoxicating, and the air was charged with sexual tension.
'Lily.' he said, his voice suddenly really low. 'Will you go out with me?'
Of course I'd go out with him! What a stupid question! 'Yes.' I answered softly, and then he kissed me.
I was in heaven for about a minute, until 'Evans! Potter!' Professor McGonagall's both brought us back to earth. 'Would you mind satisfying your hormones somewhere else?'
'But, Professor.' he said, grinning. 'We were just getting comfortable.'
'Potter! Out!'
'Doesn't it bother you that you're ruining young love?'
'I can't wait till you're out of Hogwarts. Half my hair is grey because of you! For now, get out of my classroom!' She came over, and marched us out of the room, then slammed the door.
I turned to James. 'Half her hair huh? That's quite an achievement.'
'You better believe it babe.'
'So can I expect my hair to stay red? Or should I stock up on hair dye?'
'I'm not gonna let your hair change at all.'
'You like my hair?'
'I love your hair.'
My mouth slowly formed itself into a smile.
'Come on.' he said. 'Lunch is calling.' He took my hand, and we walked together, to the Great Hall, in comfortable silence, both marvelling at the fact that what we'd been dreaming about 5 minutes earlier had become reality.
