This is something I wrote two years ago for my English class. We had to write a descriptive paper in class, so I just used the first thing that came to mind, which was something from one of the animes I like to watch. So I just picked one that I knew a good deal about and chose Sailor Moon. I didn't call her Serena in my paper though, I called her Selene. Not that it matters.

This takes place when she was a little girl, about three or four years old, living on the moon. So she still has that curiosity that young children have when seeing something new.

Just remember that if this story seems a little strange is because it's a descriptive paper for the English class I was taking. =0)

The large glass doors were the only barrier between Serena and what lay beyond. Her small hand trembled with excitement as she reached for the shiny, brass doorknob. Not being able to resist the temptation any long, she threw the doors wide open and was engulfed in a stream of warm sunlight.

She stood there a moment to let her big, blue eyes adjust to the new lighting, then slowly made her way outside while taking in all the sights around her.

Before her was a vast garden, stretching over the rolling hills for as far as the eye could see, ending in a maze made out of tall, green shrubbery. Trees dotted the land providing shade for parents as their children ran about laughing and playing. Bumblebees and golden winged butterflies floated from flower to flower while beautiful birds took turns chasing after one another.

Spotting a secluded pond nearby, Serena ran toward it, wondering what she might find.

A large weeping willow shaded the pond, its hair-like branches protecting it from the noonday sun. Serena sat down on the waters edge and glance into the pond looking for fish, but instead found her reflection shining back at her in the mirror like water. She stared at herself for a moment before reaching out to touch the water with her tiny finger, then quickly drew it away as she felt how cold the water was. She watched, completely fascinated at the small ripples she had caused and then giggled softly at how they distorted the image of her in the water.

Pushing her long, silvery golden locks away from her face, she looked once again into the shallow water and smiled when she saw the small school of goldfish swimming around in lazy circles. They held her attention for only a few moments before she started to look for other things to look at.

Her eyes lit up when she saw the lovely roses on the other side of the pond. She carefully stood up, dusted her long, white gown, and made her way over to them.

The roses grew in a rainbow of color; the delicate pedals glistened with the morning's dew. As Serena walked closer to the roses, their sweet aroma tickled her nose. She was about to feel the soft pedals of a blood red rose but stopped when she thought she heard someone calling out to her in the distance. Turning in the direction it came, she listened for it again. This time she clearly heard her mother calling her to come inside for lunch. A small frown appeared on her porcelain face, but was immediately replaced by a smile. She quickly turned back to the roses, and being extra careful of the sharp thorns, she plucked a beautiful white one tinged with pink. This delicate flower would keep her happy until the next time she could visit the garden.
