Joren looks down, his pale hair blowing in the wind. It's not so far, he thinks to him self.

"Joren?" Says a surprised and slightly put out voice. "What are you doing up here?" Ah, Kel. Come to face your fear, once again, like always.

"Looking at the view Lump. What else is Balor's Needle good for? What are you doing up here? No let me guess; come to prove to your self you aren't afraid of heights any more." He taunts.

"I better be going." She says, ignoring the insult and looking for a polite excuse to leave. "Everyone's probably wondering where I am..." It seems that heights still unsettle her. Heights or me. He sniggers.

"Mindelan, why do you bother? You could always avoid heights and never see one again."

He walks away from the edge and towards the door. Kel opens it.

"I have my reasons." Kel says coldly. She slips through and starts down the stairs. She had to be polite and open the Gods cursed door, didn't she? Always so freaking good! Why can't she just for once be annoying or mean or...something!

"Curse."

"Pardon?"

"Curse. Or don't you know what that means?" He sneers.

"I know what it means and see no reason to here."

"Is this all your scared of, heights? Nothing else?" He pushes on. Lady Perfect, only one flaw, except for maybe her extreme ugliness.

"I am no longer scared of heights, that merely make me nervous, and I'm not scared of nothing. Why the question?"

"No reason." He says with a cold smile.

"Everyone's scared of something, even you I'm sure."

Me scared? Ha! "What in this world would I be scared of?" Stupid Lump, you know nothing.

She looks at him oddly. "Are you ok Joren?" He is startled. No, of course I'm not, what gives you the right to ask!

Turning back to the stairs he says "As ok as I ever was." He walks back out on to the balcony. Like anyone even cares. Kel keeps walking down the stairs.

Are my fears any of his business? I wonder why he was really up there... Suddenly Kel turns. Surly not... he wouldn't!

Joren climbs up on top of the thin railing, barely keeping his balance. Who am I kidding? I'm scared of loosing to Mindelan. Closing his eyes he leans forward. If I can't win, by the Black God I won't let her. He smirks. This way neither of us wins.

Kel races back up the stairs and out onto the balcony. But Joren isn't there. Wind buffeting her, she checks the outside stairs, he isn't walking down them either. She hurries back inside without looking over the edge; she doesn't want to know what she might see. Oh Goddess...

A/N: Hmm... please review and tell me what you think.

Disclaimer: I own nothing you can recognize! (Not even the idea of Joren killing himself like this because other people did it first)
