Chapter One: Horrible News

Kagome woke up to the beams of sun shinning through her window. She sat up in her bed and thought about the news she had gotten the night before. "How will I ever tell him," she thought to herself. The previous night she had gone to the doctor and had gotten so very horrible news. She had cancer and it was too late in its development to be fixed with any kind of medicine. The doctor told her that she had about three more months to live.
She got out of bed and sighed. She got dressed and went to the kitchen where her mom was. "Good morning mom," she said with a shaky tone.
*Flashback*
"Mom, grandpa, Sota, I have something very important to tell you," Kagome said with tears building up in her eyes. "I hope you take this better than I did." She took a deep breath and told them what the doctor told her. She ran into her mother's arms after she told them what is wrong with her.
"Mama, I don't want to die," she said while bawling into her mother's shoulders. "Please help me."
"Oh Kagome," her mother said and held her tight and started to cry as well. "You were my only daughter, I love you, it's not right for a child to die before their parent." Grandpa and Sota, also crying, joined in on hugging her.

"Mother, when Inu Yasha comes to get me, I don't want you to tell him what is wrong with me. I have to do it on my own," she said still a little upset.
Her mother walked over to her and hugged her. "Don't worry I won't."
"Thanks mom," said Kagome, hugging her back.
Kagome walked up to her room so she can get ready for when Inu Yasha comes. Five minutes later she heard Inu Yasha knocking on her door. She opened the door trying to act as normal as she could. "Come in Inu Yasha," she tried to say cheerfully.
Inu Yasha sensed there was something wrong but he didn't acknowledge it. "Come on we have to find the last three shards of the shikon no tama," he said. They have been looking for the shards for almost two years now, and with Naraku defeated, they had accuired most of the jewel. Over the years Inu Yasha and Kagome had gotten much closer. Kagome loved him very much and had enjoyed every moment thay had spent together. She never wanted it to end, but it would all end in a short three months. She had to know if Inu Yasha loved her like she loved him. In the two years of searching for the Shikon Jewel Sango and Miroku had gotten married and moved to where Miroku used to live, and Shippo moved in with them because he was sick of Inu Yasha being mean to he, but he did visit on occasions to see Kagome. With them gone it left Inu Yasha and Kagome in search of the reamaining shards alone.
"All right, I'm ready, lets go now," she said as cheerfully as she could.
"I wonder if there is something wrong with her," Inu Yasha thought. The went to the bone eaters well and came out in Inu Yasha's forest. "Well...are you ready to go get the jewels now or are you going to stand there all day."
"Is that all I am to him? A shard finder," she thought.
"Kagome, the jewels wont find themselves you know," Inu Yasha said in a sarcastic tone.
"Ok, I'm coming," Kagome said with slight tears hoping Inu Yasha would not notice.
"Is she crying?" Inu Yasha thought. "Maybe I should be a little nicer to her."
