A/N: It's a J/S poem in honor of Valentine's day. I know it sounds very un-me-like, but my muse made me write it, ok? It's from Sarah's point of view, not mine. Enjoy and remember to review!

Disclaimer: I don't own the Labyrinth, which was the inspiration for this poem. They belong Jim Henson, and only the poem is mine.

Crystalline Illusions

Who is he, this man I know?

He surely is not what he seems.

Living in a realm unknown;

A midnight land of lucid dreams.

Something beckons me to him:

A quality I can not name.

Our eyes meet amongst the stars,

Two hearts entwined in Fate's new game.

As powerful as magic gets,

He sweeps me cross the ballroom floor.

A love so pure, it tears my heart.

A simple dreamer girl no more.

Reveling in his warm embrace,

The music plays, and still we dance.

A taintless heart that yearns for more

Touched by the softness of romance

But alas, we must asunder;

The night is gone with thirteen tolls.

Forever in a midnight dance

Dip and sway these two lost souls.

He vows some day he will return,

And seals his promise with a kiss

When fantasy and whim take flight,

Reality thrown to abyss.

But I have not seen him since,

The dream has gone and left me broken.

He promised me we'd be together,

But memories are my only token.

My heart cries out for something more,

A man not purely in my dreams.

Something tangible and real,

A man exactly as he seems.

But the vision's left me scarred,

No one knows how much he mattered.

Waking from this mystic dream

Has left my heart confused and shattered.

Will we ever meet again,

To fulfil our long-lost fate?

Push aside the competition,

And let the pain he left abate.

Once more he sweeps me through the ball,

Light and graceful as a feather.

Nothing left to contemplate:

We were meant to be together.
