Reflections By Gina-chan

A soft breeze whispered through the trees and the light from the moon streamed through the leaves. Pippin breathed in the fresh air, and exhaled slowly. He always came to the same spot, night after night, underneath a particularly large tree. He looked up at the sky with sorrowful eyes. Life was dull now. It had no purpose anymore. It was the same routine everyday. He enjoyed sitting underneath his favorite tree, but it too was getting repetitive. Some days Pippin hated himself so much that he just wanted to end it all. He never told anyone, of course. He constantly had a facade of happiness on. It was something that was expected of him. Pippin didn't want anyone to know what he felt. So he kept up his facade. He didn't want sympathy. He just wanted to be left alone. He was bored of life, and he knew nothing out of the ordinary would ever happen in the Shire. Pippin had his full share of adventure in his life already. He wasn't looking for that. All he wanted was something different with his life. A new routine. He sat underneath the same tree each night, contemplating different lives he could live. Each fantasy always contained someone that loved him dearly, someone that would hold him close at night. That was the thing that was missing in his life now. The missing piece. Pippin had no one. No one to greet him when he came home to his hobbit-hole each day after work, no one to snuggle with by a cozy fire. Pippin had none of this. And he so desperately wanted it. He wanted someone to love him, and someone that loved him back. Pippin knew, deep inside, that there would never be someone there for him. He kept on his facade of happiness, but he kept his distance from people. And people usually kept away from him. He had done something extraordinary once, and now other hobbits kept away from him, because he was different. He had Merry, Frodo, and Sam, of course, but they had their own lives. They didn't need to be burdened with his.

There was a small part of him, though, that still held on the dream that someday, someone would be there waiting for him. He stood up from his spot underneath the tree and headed home.
