Sarah woke from a restless sleep to find Roxy and Kaitlin still sleeping soundly. Outside her window, she could see that it was still dark. She rose slowly, pushing the covers away, and covering her chill with a robe.

Downstairs the house was silent, Grunge and Bobby asleep in front of the blank blue television screen. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something move at the window, but by the time she turned, it was gone.

Before she could rationalize, she was outside, her robe whipping around her tight, tan thighs. Into the backyard and through the forest, she ran until she was out of breath. She paused, listening hard to the night sounds of animals, and her own ragged breath in her ears.

She lit the skies with and outstretched palm. "Who's there?" She said, somewhat breathlessly. "I won't hurt you, I promise."

A pale, naked girl stepped out from behind a tree, and into Sarah's path. Her hair was pale blonde, and somewhat tangled, and her skin was scratched and scarred. Though she was standing upright, and her head lowered, Sarah had the distinct impression that she was just short of cowering.

She was breathtaking, Sarah thought, her lean arms and legs, and example of fitness, and her shoulders and back a long, smooth curve down to her round butt.

"A-are you alright?" Sarah stepped forward and offered the girl her robe. When she looked up, Sarah stopped, stunned. Her eyes were a pale incandescent blue, lined with thick, dark lashes. Something in her eyes recognized Sarah, and her heart caught in her chest momentarily, knocking the wind out of her. "Who are you?"

The girl looked at Sarah intensely for several moments before a single tear rolled down her cheek.

"Can you talk?" Sarah asked, quietly.

The girl shook her head sadly, and Sarah took her hand gently and walked lead her through the forest, back home.
