The X-Files Office

It was still another hour until the weekend would start. Although Mulder and Scully had come back from an exhausting case in Montana just this afternoon, neither of them had wanted to go home. While Scully was trying to write a report about their latest case, Mulder was solving crossword riddles in yesterday's newspaper.

"Scully? You workin'?", he asked, looking up.

"Well, Mulder, that's what people normally do in their office.", she answered, still staring at her computer screen.

"Hey, Scully, are you trying to tell me something.?"

Not getting an answer, Mulder put the paper away and started talking again.

"So, have you planned anything for the weekend?"

Scully finally looked up, giving him a bewildered glance.

"Mulder, what exactly are you getting at? If you're just bored go home and do whatever your twisted mind comes up with, but will you just let me finish this case report?"

Ignoring the sharp comment, he answered:

"Actually, that was just my way of asking you to actually go out with me. I know you haven't done this in a very long time, but it's actually fun. ."

"I don't think you and I have the same definition of fun."

"Oh, Scully, that hurt. No, I mean it. We're spending so much time together at work and I thought if maybe we'd meet somewhere else for a change, I'd get to know your friendly and charming self."

"Oh, that's nice, Mulder. Do you treat all girls you want to go on a date with like that?"

"Hey, who said I wanted to go on a date with you? You think I'm that desperate?"

Before she could object, Mulder rose his hand to stop her.

"Look, you don't have anything planned for the weekend, so what've you got to lose? After this weekend you'll know what real fun is about. Wanna bet on it?"

"You're kidding me, right?"

"No, I'm serious. Or do you think I'd get something like a mental breakdown, spending two days with you?"

"Funny, Mulder. I just don't think I'd survive spending two days with you."

"I take that as a yes.?!?", he asked not giving her the time to answer: "Fine! I'll pick you up at eight then."

And with that he took his coat and headed out of the office, leaving a confused Scully at her desk.
