The next morning, Eowyn and Legolas awoke in a tangled mound of sheets, the sun streaming through to capture their fair bodies in the sweet after math of their love-making.
After a round of kisses, Eowyn left to do her duty to her people, and set to work as a healer. Legolas prepared to ride off to Isenguard, and to face the evils of Sauron and Sarumon.
Their good-bye was short and terribly sad, but they parted knowing that, in this life or another, they would see each other again. Fate had weaved their paths together, and together they would stay.
Legolas rode with Aragorn and Gandalf to find the two small hobbits (Merry and Pippin) who had so long evaded their grasp. The reunion with the two members of their company brought back memories and worries of the fates of Frodo and Sam, so deep in enemy territory.
Eventually this war drew to a close, as all wars do, and the Fellowship got a chance to be united, to share their tales. Pelennor Fields, the battle with the Shelob, Moria, and other adventures were all shared about.
When Helms Deep began to be told of, Legolas immediately jumped up, remembering his promise to Eowyn. Despite his friends' pleas he prepared to rush off to find her.
He was stopped when Aragorn told him that Eowyn would be coming here, with her uncle, to celebrate the War's end.
Their meeting was joyous, as the reunions of loved ones always is. With their love finally exposed to the world, Legolas and Eowyn prepared for a wedding that they had decided on, after witnessing the splendor of Aragorn and Arwen's.
When the day came, Legolas looked out across the plains of Rohan where their wedding was taking place. His friends, Aragorn, Arwen, Gandalf, Gimli, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin were all there. So was Theoden, and Eomer, and Boromir's brother, Faramir. A number of Eowyn's friends were there, as were Lord Elrond and Galadriel, who were preparing to sail to the West.
As the vows were said, and the happy couple pronounced husband and wife, Legolas kissed his love passionately. They turned to the audience, facing them together.
That's how they would always be, from now on. Whatever troubles came before them, they would always be like this.
Facing it together.
