Lorelai left Luke's with Rory in tow. It was dusk and they had just finished eating dinner and were heading home to watch some movies alone.
As they passed the town square they saw Kirk wondering around the square.
"Hey Kirk, what are you doing out here" Lorelai said, as she stopped walking to stare at him.
"Hello Rory, Lorelai" Kirk said with a nod at them.
"Hey Kirk" Rory replied.
"In answer to your question Lorelai, I am on the lookout for UFO's" Kirk replied.
Rory and Lorelai stared at him for a minute, and then started laughing.
Kirk looked offended.
"Umm, Kirk how long are you going to stay out here?" Rory asked in between giggles.
"All night, if it takes that long" Kirk replied.
Lorelai snorted. "So, what makes you think that you're going to see one tonight?"
"I'm not sure, but I think that I will" Kirk told them haughtily.
Lorelai stifled another giggle and told him. "Well, if your not here in the morning, I guess we'll know what happened."
"What's that?" Kirk asked.
"The mother ship beamed you up!" Lorelai squeaked.
And with that Rory and Lorelai took off across the square.
"We'll see who laughs last," Kirk said to himself.
Jess who had been passing the square earlier, overheard Kirk's conversation with the Gilmore's.
Laughing too himself, he muttered. "Kirk wants a UFO. Then Kirk is going to get one!"
Kirk had encamped himself in a lawn chair on the square, so he had no problem sitting there for hours waiting.
At about eleven o'clock that night, Kirk started seeing swirling lights overhead.
He had been dozing, so he thought that he might be dreaming.
But after a few minutes the lights were still there, swirling round and round.
Kirk rubbed his eyes, but when the lights remained he jumped up and started running through town banging on doors.
"There's a UFO!" He told everyone as they came pouring out of their doors.
Some rolled their eyes, but some asked where he had seen the lights.
"In the town square! Come on!" Kirk yelled at them.
Eventually the whole town, including Lorelai, Rory, and Luke had gathered in the square, and had started searching the sky.
A few minutes later, everyone sucked in a collective breath.
There in the sky the lights appeared, swirling round and round.
Everyone started talking at once. A few people shrieked.
A few seconds before total hysteria broke out, snorts of laughter were heard coming from a tree that was situated on the town square.
The whole town turned and stared in horror at the tree.
Kirk shrieked. "One of those aliens are in the tree!"
More laughter was heard, and then suddenly everyone heard the crack of a tree limb breaking and someone tumbled out of the tree and landed, unhurt at the base of the tree.
Everyone was too startled to move. They just stood there staring in horror at the figure that had fallen out of the tree.
Suddenly, someone shined a flashlight on the figure.
Everyone stared for a second longer before saying together, "JESS!!!!!!!!!!!"
