Missing A Leg

Don't fall down –
Not in front of strangers

We all fall down,
Once in a while.

Those bastards out there,
They'll walk around you.
And it's impossible to get up again,
Without help.

"Could you give me
a hand?"
Please?

A pair of strong hands
Sliding under my arms

I'm up again.
"Are you all right?
Now…"

"Yeah… Thanks…"

"You sure?"

"All is fine…
I was just careless is all."

A single good eye
A patch-covered other.
"Everybody falls,
you know,
now and then.
Just don't let it throw you,
Make you afraid."

You speak truth,
My thoughts exactly.
"Took me quite a while
To learn all this on my own."
But I thank you, stranger.

"You'll be fine."
That's the hope.
