I remember. By Anna Blackwell

I remember that day clear as dew,

I remember the day that I finally knew.

I remember that day, that morning, that time,

When you crossed the borderline

Between the realm of life and death.
I remember the bench that I sat upon,

I remember how I just sat there, not believing for so long.

I remember the memories of time together,

As I reminisce the time stretches to forever,

A forever of recollection.
I remember the day I found out you were a man,

I remember finding out the limits of your lifespan.

I remember thinking how our friendship would be short,

And how the Gods ought

To have gifted you with more.
I remember the day that you sat on that throne,

I remember thinking that this was your home.
I remember never seeing your face again at Imladris,

As Time gave you her final kiss

And then you were gone.
I remember the funeral fanfare,

I remember before, the desperate prayer.

I remember Arwen's crystal tears,

As those that you held dear

Watched your body being lowered into its tomb.
I remember the time we spent,

I remember the time that was leant,

I remember even that could not stop,

That dreadful ticking clock,

As the hand reached twelve, your time was up.
I will never stand by you again,

Except as I stand looking at your grave.

And as the tears slid down my cheek,

I remember.
