Rory Gilmore sighed as she flopped down onto her bed.

"I can't believe that I broke up with Jess," she thought miserably.

She had broken up with him after school, and she hadn't seen Lorelai yet.

Suddenly, Lorelai burst into the room. "Honey are you okay? Luke told me, that you asked him to send me home when I got there." Lorelai stopped talking and studied her daughter.

"Rory" she prompted.

Rory looked up with tears glistening in her eyes. "I broke up with Jess today" she whispered.

Lorelai didn't look as surprised as Rory would have expected.

"Oh, honey." Lorelai whispered as she sat down beside Rory, and put her arm around her shoulders.

"Don't you even want to know why?" Rory sniffed.

"I think that I know why. But go ahead and tell me" Lorelai said.

"I don't think that he really cared about me. You know what he said and did. He said 'that he's not the kind of guy who lives by a schedule.' I love him or loved, I guess I should say. And I think that he just viewed me as a prize that he had to take away from Dean, just to prove that he could. You know?" Rory asked.

Lorelai hugged her close. "I suspected that, that was why you broke up with him. And I don't know how he felt or feels about you, so I can't say if he really didn't or does love you. But I do know that I did not like the way that he treated you." Lorelai told her.

Rory sniffed a little more. "So you really think that I did the right thing by breaking up with him?"

"If you felt that he wasn't treating you with respect and that he wasn't going to. Then yes, I think that you did the right thing by dumping him.' Lorelai stated firmly.

Rory wiped her eyes and attempted a smile. "Well, I guess that I had better get to my homework."

"Ok honey." Lorelai said patting her on the back.

"Do you want me to order some pizza for dinner?" Lorelai asked her.

"That's fine." Rory answered as she got up and headed for her desk.

Lorelai got up too and headed for the bedroom door. But before she left, Rory turned toward the door and said to her mother's departing back, "Thanks mom."

Lorelai turned around and smiled at her. "Your welcome honey."

Then she headed out the door, and grabbed the cordless phone. Dialing, she held the phone up to her ear as she flipped through the TV channels looking for something to watch.

"Hi Joe, it's Lorelai. One breakup special please" she whispered into the phone. "Ok Joe. See you in forty-five." Lorelai said louder.

Flicking off the phone, she yelled to Rory that the pizza would be there in forty-five minutes."

As Rory yell, "All right" Lorelai plopped down onto the couch and got engrossed in the movie that was just starting on cable.

Forty-five minutes later, the pizza arrived and Lorelai thanked Joe, paid him, and called for Rory.

"What is it?" Rory hollered back at her mother.

"The pizzas here" Lorelai called.

"Ok. I'm coming" Rory said.

A minute later, she appeared holding two cans of soda, and some plates.

"You forgot the napkins." Lorelai stated.

Rory rolled her eyes. "I just figured we'd use our shirtsleeves like always." Rory joked.

Lorelai laughed and headed for the kitchen to get some napkins, and took up the joke. "And here I am trying to teach you some table manners." Lorelai called.

As Lorelai got some napkins she smiled a little sadly to herself. "She's hurting, but at least she's trying to get over it." She thought.
