Disclaimer: I don't own Jurassic Park. Hey, that sounds like I'm talking about the park, not the book... .that would be awesome! Dinosaurs!

Summary: What I imagine might have happened before Alan Grant came in. I have no idea what chapter this is in or anything, so you'll have to guess.

Pickle ball? Lex asked hopefully, throwing her ball up in the air and catching it.

Lex, shut up. Tim said grumpily, No one likes pickle ball anyway. No one but dad. His stomach growled, and he angrily tried to cover it.

The two children were standing, seemingly, in the middle of nowhere. Well, a pretty interesting middle of nowhere - a hadrosaur paddock filled with many plants from the Cretaceous period. And, also, many animals from the Cretaceous period.

Tim, everyone likes pickleball. Lex said indignantly, then suddenly screamed.

Tim shouted, scurrying up the nearest tree.

Lex, in the meantime, was hyperventilating. She turned around, unable to speak. She had felt something breathing behind her.

She stuttered, whispering, slowly inching forwards, Is there something -behind me?

Tim nodded. From his place in the tree, he could see the Velociraptor well. From reading, he knew that raptors hunted in packs, and always moved quickly. He would have to do something, and fast. Think, Tim, think! He urged himself, then saw that the raptor was poised to pounce on his sister, like some kind of giant cat. Without thinking, he tore a small branch off the tree and threw it to the ground, hoping to distract the raptor from his sister.

The creature turned its head, and stared at the stick with its beady eyes. Then, very slowly, it turned back to Lex, who was shivering uncontrollably.

Tim said. He was praying for another distraction. Something had to happen. The Chaos theory - something would happen. And it did.

At that exact moment, three baby Triceratops walked into the clearing. The raptor paused, looking them over. Then it shifted its evil glare at the nearest one. Tim watched, fascinated.

But the Chaos Theory was not over playing it's little game with Tim and Lex. Just when Lex was loosening her shoulders, the Tyrannosaurus Rex came crashing through the trees.

I hate him,Lex said with menace, still shaking in fear, I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!

Tim called down from the tree, Lex, whatever you do, stay still!

Lex did as was told. The Tyrannosaurus bowed its head down and took a short sniff at Lex. She hoped he did not remember her smell. She stood there, petrified, for what seemed like hours as the huge dinosaur examined her. Suddenly, it began pushing against her mouth.

Don't eat me, stupid dinosaur! She shouted despite herself, and somehow found the courage to scramble up the tree her brother was in.

The enourmous Tyrannosaurus Rex was still much, much taller than she, and strong enough to uproot the small tree they were in. But, by some miracle, the dinosaur left them alone, and went after the angry Velociraptor. Timmy and Lex sat still in the tree for a long time after the dinosaur had left. Tim was the first to speak.

He said, This will be something to tell mom!

You tell mom. Lex said, She's the one who likes these awful creatures anyway.

Alexis stopped talking, suddenly noticing that there was one baby Triceratops left.

You look like that stupid kid Ralph, She remarked, You want some hay, Ralph? Yes? You like hay, don't you?

That was when Alan Grant walked in.

Anything happen while I was gone?

Both children shook their heads. Nope, nothing at all!

From that day on, Tim and Lex felt closer - almost like a real brother and sister are supposed to. I have heard that Tim has even been seen playing pickleball.
