ETERNITY is an admittedly fluffy song-fic brought on by the merciless plot-bunnies of spontaneous inspiration

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Lord of the Rings, but I'm sure you knew that. I also do not own the online quiz (yes, you read right, online PERSONALITY QUIZ) that inspired this darn thing. The quiz was called How will you break Legolas's heart? and it was by someone named "devillicious." Hail to this Quizmaster, for the result I got on his quiz sent the old poem juices flowing for the first time in a very unhealthy while. The little paragraph I got ran as follows:
"He'll sing you to sleep every night under the moon and stars, with his arms wrapped tightly around you to keep you safe and warm. He'll love you til the end of time and beyond, as you do him… that is, if you had an eternity…. Your love will be evergreen, but you will pass on, like the rest of us, leaving him heart broken and utterly alone in this world. He will spend the rest of eternity living on the memories of you…"
Well, that's paraphrased a bit, but you get the gist of it. Some of the other results are way funny, but this one really got me in the left brain. Or is it the right brain? Is there even a difference with me?
P.S. If any Elfquest fans who have listened to the Wolfrider's Reflections album notice a familiar pattern to this song, the answer is a resounding "yes." I'm not a melody person, not usually. The lyrics are all my idea. Mine, mine, mine. They're supposed to be a song that the other Wood-Elves might sing while strolling through Mirkwood.
So, now, for all practical purposes, we are going to assume Legolas has fallen in love with one of his human fangirls…

"For an ETERNITY I waited for you, and now another eternity I must spend with my heart whispering your name."
Legolas;
Immortal, your people are Wood-Elves,
Forest-born hunters that can never die,
Lovers of life and of sun and of springtime,
Ageless and handsome as stars in the sky.
Legolas;
Young Wood-Elf, your lover is loyal.
Far from her homeland she follows you still,
Learning from you to survive in the woodland.
Loving, though human, she goes where you will.
Legolas;
Brave warrior, your lover is mortal,
She cannot live half as long as you will.
Time is the slayer of every human,
And soon it will leave your young lover's heart still.
Legolas;
Skilled archer, you can't slay this new foe.
Your arrows can't target this bringer of death.
Once it has claimed her, you've lost her forever,
That moment grows closer with each careless breath.
Legolas;
Swift teacher, the human grows bolder,
Harder it is to protect her from harm.
Still, every night, your sweet songs close her soft eyes,
And still, every night, your strong arms keep her warm.
Legolas;
Heart-broken, Alone in this world now.
Death brings another short life to its knees.
You must live on with your duty and memories,
Hearing her laughter in each gentle breeze.
