* Author's notes: Oi, this is my first attempt ever at writing fan fiction. I'm also a strong supporter of Yuu + Miki. ^^; Just so you know. This story is based off of the missing time in volume 2 of Marmalade Boy after the tennis match between Ginta and Yuu vs. Tsutomu and his teammate. Arimi and Ginta have just walked off, leaving about 5 hours free before the next panel showing Miki in bed. Please R&R. I'll try getting up new chapters as soon as I can settle on a path to take with them!
Disclaimer: I don't own anything related to Marmalade Boy by Wataru Yoshizumi. Although I wish I did.

Miki gasped as she watched Ginta being led away by the pretty girl. Arimi likes Ginta?! The thought kept swirling through her mind uncontrollably. What was she supposed to do now? Ginta had confessed that he still cared about her just a few weeks before. Now what was going to happen? Miki stormed off angrily, leaving Yuu standing there with the struck Tsutomu.
"Miki! Hey, Miki! Wait up!" Yuu was dashing after her. "Don't leave me with Tsutomu in that state. He was just about to start crying back there." Yuu cast a sidelong glance at her, watching as her ponytail swung furiously back and forth because of her hurried pace. He sighed inwardly, disappointed at seeing the intense state of agitation she was in over Ginta. Yuu reached over and caught Miki's arm. "Let's go to the ice cream shop, Miki. You look like you could use something to perk you up after serving oden all day." He gave her one of his irresistible smiles to seal the deal.
Miki considered it for a moment, wondering whether if it would be better to yell at Yuu, storm off, and pout in her room for the rest of the day or if she could show Ginta (and maybe herself) that she didn't care who he was out 'talking' with. "Alright. I think I've got some money in my bag. Let's go!"
Yuu was greatly relieved. There had been a moment of indecision in her eyes as she'd considered that he hadn't failed to catch. Maybe I can take her mind off Ginta permanently, Yuu thought happily as they strolled along. He decided to try the suave approach. "You look beautiful with that ribbon in your hair today, Miki."
She stuck her tongue out at him. "You know this is the same ribbon that I always wear, baka."
He laughed, "After all this time, you still think I'm serious about everything I say." He watched out of the corner of his eye as her ears turned pink. He sighed again to himself as he thought, Why can't I just say something nice to her once without making it a joke?
As they walked along, Yuu noticed that Miki had slipped into a brooding silence. He was beginning to get jealous of Ginta, even though the guy was probably getting sucked into one of Arimi's schemes at that very moment. Miki's voice snapped him out of his brooding, he only later realized.
"Yuu..," Miki started, hey eyes glued to the pavement in front of her, "What.. um.." She seemed to have an enormous question resting itselt on her chest. Yuu's heart skipped a beat. He stopped walking, and she looked up at him. ".. err.. What kind of ice cream are you going to get?"
Aah! I can't believe I almost asked Yuu what I should do about Ginta! Miki gave her best (overly-enthusiastic) smile, even as she thought to herself that it was a bit much.
Yuu started walking again.
