Kaoru was looking for her yukata among the stack of folded clothes. She rammed everywhere, but her yukata was not there. It was quite dark, with only the lantern illuminating their room. Ahem..it's their room now, Kenshin's and hers.
Her hands stilled. She didn't found her yukata, instead she was holding Kenshin's old magenta gi.
The one he left, when he left her to go to Kyoto. It was over a year or so, but she could never forget the anguish she felt when Kenshin left.
Softly, she began to hum herself a song while she took the gi to her face and caressed it gently, indulging in his scent.
Tell me
Tell me that it's just a dream
That I'll wake upTo find you here
Smiling back at me
Oh, please
Tell me that you'll be here with me
By my side
Tell me
In my arms
Tell me
Tell me
She looked at the gi with caring eyes, as if the gi was Kenshin himself. She understood now his reason for leaving, and realized long ago that the man she loved did the best thing for her, and for Japan.
She folded the gi carefully, putting it with the other folded clothes.
If it's impossible, then
Tell me
Tell me that you'll be back for me
For me
Right where you belong
Where you belong
Tell me that you'll always
Always
Come back at me.
She found her yukata then and slowly undressed, untying her obi, and pulling her kimono off her shoulders with slow gentle precision. She put on her yukata, smiling softly at no one particular.
And I'll tell you
I'll wait for you here
Forever
Tell you that
I'll wait
I'll welcome you home
Right where you belong
Right where you belong
"It was beautiful." She gasped, hands flying to her chest. It was Kenshin, casually leaning on the shoji door. He was smiling sweetly back at her, violet eyes soft and loving.
"Was it, anata?. How long have you been there?." She asked, standing up to pick her comb and comb her hair before going to sleep.
"I was here since your first line. You have a very sweet voice, koishii." He advanced, sliding the shoji door shut quietly. He sat on their futon, flipped the blanket and said in the softest voice he could muster.
"Come here, koishii."
She moved towards him, combing her hair as she did so. He patted the vacant spot on their futon, and she obediently sit in front of him. He took the comb from her hands and started to comb her hair gently.
"Kirei na."
She leaned slightly on his chest, loving his sensuous smell, not noticing when he had moved her under the blanket. He gathered her in a warm hug, settling her face on the crook of his neck, and his lips gently kissing her ears. His warm breath sent excitement through her body.
Sleep, my precious, sleep
So that you'll wake up beside me
He was humming a soft lullaby to her ear. Tone low enough for only her to her.
Dream, my love, dream
Dream of me
Of us
He held her closer, chuckling as he heard her giggle.
I'll tell you that I'll be with you
Tell you that I'll always be by your side
Always
Always in your arms
She was in heaven. His soft voice, the melody of the song, the words…
Dream, my baby, dream
I'll be back for you
For you
Right where I belong
Right where I belong
She hugged him tighter. He breathed in the scent of her fragrant hair. She buried her face in the crook of his shoulder. He caressed her back and pulled her tighter to him.
"Aishiteru anata."
