Note: Title comes from the chapter of Jehan's death.

Dedication: To Zach, our assistant acting instructor, who has seen Les Mis and is quite possibly the only person there who gets my Les Mis allusions.
The Last Poem of Jean Prouvaire
Life is a poem. But it doesn't scan
And it doesn't rhyme
And it doesn't have a meter
Not most of the time
Our poem-lives are like this
And most of all mine
It's a piece of verse that runs nowhere
Except to a barricade in the end
And I'm saying goodbye to my purpose
My leader and every friend
And I'll never be able to write another
Loving line of verse
But thinking over all that's happened
I suppose it could be worse
If it's certain that I'm going to die
I'll end it with our battle cry
For even if we have no chance -
"Vive la future! Vive la France!"
End
