The Ballad of Robin Hood and His Merry Men

Creeping through the forest, / Three men sought out a place to hide; / In a place where there were the poorest / Men, none of which to guide.

Sherwood Forest has rumors of ghosts / Who haunt the forest's middle; / But really they are a host / Led by the large John Little.

And when they met the merry men / John Little urged a fight; / Robin of Locksley took the weapon / And refused to take a flight.

As these men fought on and on / Tiring as they went; / Robin outsmarted Little John / And realized the hour was spent.

Robin became leader / Of the merry men; / But angry Will Scarlett will teeter / On the brink of destruction.

The very next sunrise / Robin left early for church; / He saw the maiden while in disguise / But the evil Sheriff did lurch.

A meeting with the bishop / Ended rather badly; / Robin escaped with a hop / And the Sheriff chased him madly.

Robin returned to camp / With the Sheriff's horse; / The Sheriff's cheek was damp / With blood from a dagger coarse.

Little and his men were mad / About Robin's conspiring; / And little Wulf, that lad / Warned Robin about Will's temper firing.

An arrow through Will's hand / To cause uproars of pain; / But Robin's speech did band / The men together in spite of personal gain.

A village was built / In the tops of the trees; / With a sword's hilt / Chopping away with expertise..

The robbing then had begun / When the rich's pockets were emptied; / These men were indeed having fun / Giving the poor this good deed.

The poor began to love him / For the money he gave; / But the nasty Sheriff was on the brim / Of destroying the thief that was brave.

But then something happened / But even Robin knew; / That Maid Marian would come to lend / Her help, not too much, not too few.

The lady told the outlaw / Earlier in the week; / The next time she saw / Him he better not have that reek.

Marian fell in love / With the prince of thieves; / Even blind Duncan / Could sense the love everyone sees.

When Marian sought the king / Her letter was taken from her; / The Sheriff now could sing / Of how he abducted her, that cur!

Robin's village soon was attacked / But the merry men proved hard; / The only thing these men lacked / Was power in numbers and were scarred.

Some captured men were tortured long / The Sheriff did question them; / Maid Marian's sorrowful song / Over an intercepted medallion.

Was Robin dead? Oh no! / He just disappeared a bit; / But Will appears as Robin's foe / And John had thrown a fit.

Was Will really a traitor? / But now the card is thrown; / Will is just half-brother / To Robin and feels all alone.

His father loved Robin more / And Will cursed that man; / And then to settle a score / Robin developed a plan.

A lovely day at the gallows / And men full of costumes; / Robin would kill all his foes / As the arrow through the air zooms.

The captured men were saved / Thanks to John Little's quick thinking; / But now the Sheriff craved / A marriage to replace the king.

A dagger through the heart / Was enough to kill the evil Sheriff; / And everyone was not sad to part / With the man who installed a tariff.

And then lady and thief were wed / But not before King Richard gave her away; / And with a kiss they tread / To live to fight another day.
