FAR FROM HOME
The sun is rising,
And I am far from home.
Gulls wheel and cry overhead;
The Sea is near,
I can hear its call,
Pulling me,
Away from these shores,
Away from my home.
Soon I will see it;
A glittering blue,
Stretching beyond the horizon.
A ship waits
To carry me away,
Away, never to return.
The thought saddens me,
But I am powerless.
I cannot stay.
I do not wish to leave.
We board the ship, My kin and I.
Turn around one last time;
A sight never to be seen again.
The sun is rising,
And I am far from home.
The sun is rising,
And I am far from home.
Gulls wheel and cry overhead;
The Sea is near,
I can hear its call,
Pulling me,
Away from these shores,
Away from my home.
Soon I will see it;
A glittering blue,
Stretching beyond the horizon.
A ship waits
To carry me away,
Away, never to return.
The thought saddens me,
But I am powerless.
I cannot stay.
I do not wish to leave.
We board the ship, My kin and I.
Turn around one last time;
A sight never to be seen again.
The sun is rising,
And I am far from home.
