Solitude
by
T'Layna MacMathain
A lone figure looks out into the moonlit night from her normal
perch on the eastern parapet.
Her mind in a state of deep reflection as the chill bite of the misted
winds caress her hair and ears with a steely touch.
Her life has been one of anguish from the loss of all she held dear,
and deep inside, she knows she was responsible for her misery.
A mind shattered and alone. Existing in a limbo of the rogue's life,
fueled by the fires of insanity raging within. When can she find
time for herself to heal?
Last night, she lay near death. Once again, her own arrogance
caught up with her and demanded penance. She would soon face
the fate of her own unless change happened.
One night, she took heart on a lost child, a rogue discarded like her.
Her maternal instinct awakened, the instinct to protect the young
ones foremost in her heart.
Now her rage tempered as she sees the eyes of her clan of rogues,
each one outraged and afraid as she know she must fight on,
though tired and scarred she is.
Though alone no more she is, she is still lonely. She knows she must
continue, for she is the only one who could.
A lone tear glides down her cheek as the wind blows once more.
