Dear Mother,
It's Kathryn. I'm sorry I haven't wrote in a while but things have been a bit busy round here and what with Tom's and Mine honeymoon things have gotten a bit behind.
I know what your saying, Who's Tom? What Honeymoon?
Well I got married a few months ago to the best specimen of manhood in the entire universe, Thomas Eugene Paris. You remember Mom, Admiral Paris boy, the one who would flit with phoebe at those Starfleet parties. Well he's now my husband, and to think I nearly let Lt. Torres have him.
It all started a while ago and we had been seeing each other for a while, well, we were on shore leave and he asked me to marry him and I said yes. I had to give up command of Voyager for a day so that Chakotay's could perform the marriage but it was worth it.
The real reason I'm writing this letter is because I need to tell someone this and I've always wanted to tell you first, after my husband, but I could wait until we got back to Earth. I'm Pregnant, 3 months pregnant to be exact and before you ask, yes the farther is Tom.
I had gone to the doctor because I had missed my period twice in a row and he told me I was pregnant. I didn't really expect it, I thought he was going to say stress or menopause, but this is so much better.
I was worried at first. Would I have to give up command of Voyager? What would Tom say? How would I tell Tom?
Well I decided to break the news to him on shore leave. We were walking though the woods and had just come upon a lake and sat down to eat. It was a beautiful night, the planet had binary moons. After a while I asked him what he'd think of having kids, he was confused, but said he loved the idea, so I told him my news.
You should have seen his face when I told him, it was like a Childs face at Christmas. When I looked into his eyes I saw, for the first time since I met him, a truly peaceful soul.
Well I guess you'll be asking a lot of questions in two weeks.
Oh, and before you ask, I do love him.
Kathryn
