Disclaimer: I do not own any character in here besides Nimiar and Elethial. Ain't that a shame...I'd love to own Legolas... ^^

Author Notes: This story is the edited and written out version of a roleplay I do...sometimes. =P

Chapter 01
Maidens do not swordplay...

A young girl rolled over on the grass and looked up at her mother.

"Mother, may I ask you a question?"

"If I told you no, I'd assume you'd ask it anyway," smiled the dark haired woman. Her face was graceful, her expression warm, and her deep and twinkling eyes stared back at her daughter, who looked like herself to some extent, except for the eyes. The eyes were bold, strong like her father's.

Her daughter giggled and rolled over again so that she was staring up at the sky. "Mother? May I learn how to swordfight?"

The mother placed the book she was reading down and shut it softly. "Swordfight, Nimiar?"

The girl sat up uneasily. "Yes Mother, I…want to learn."

"My dear, swordsmanship does not appear as glorious as you think."

"I do not think it glorious to swordplay…"

"Then why must you insist on learning it?"

The girl raised her chin high. "Father says I shall make a fair swordswoman."

The mother raised an eyebrow. "Did he now? Your father," she sighed, "does have an eye for these things." She looked at her daughter. "You have a build, similar to his. You'd do well with a sword," she nodded.

"Then let me," pleaded Nimiar.

"And what would you do when you have acquired this skill? Surely not start a war so you can use them?"

"I only wish to pass the unending time here, Mother. Our library is filled with books you insist I read. I have an eternity to read them. And you know I don't really care for such things." She raised her lowered eyes to meet her mother's.

She turned over the words her daughter had said. Unending time…eternity to read…

"We shall see."
