Hey all. Welcome to the rewrite of My Life with an S&M Maid.
I'm really happy to see how much love the story got since my update yesterday. To those of you who reviewed and shared your thoughts, I really appreciate the help.
It's not like I write for profit or to improve my skills, I just do it for fun and it makes it more fun when I see you all joining in and sharing your views in a positive format.
So thanks everybody.
Now, I took into account all the reviews, the PM's, and the comments through discord, both personal and private, and I'll share what my game plan here.
A fair warning, however, is that a lot of times the story writes itself in a way. I'll be sticking to the OLD content plot wise till we catch up, but there will still be plenty of changes along the way.
Pairing.
Relationship wise, this story will stick to a pure romance between Dante X Virgo with an occasional extra girl added in for a one night stand type of thing. In no way will I have either Dante or Virgo sleep with anyone without the other involved.
I won't share my views on how I see things with other stories, but for this specific one, that's how I'm going to run with it.
I really love writing Virgo as a love interest, she's like diabetes to my heart.
I will say that Seilah is still up in the air. I'll keep things going and see IF and WHEN she could fit in, but it wont be immediate or rushed. She's the only one I can see that could fit in there long term, both due to her personality, her immortality, and her purpose and focus as a magic researcher.
The relationship with Virgo is a BIT rushed to be fair, but I have long term reasons for such a thing, so hopefully you can keep an open mind as you read along.
My reasoning for the other past love interests had been:
/: Cana – no one ever uses her and she's a beauty with no official pairing. She has loads of potential but weakens herself with cards magic. I wanted to show her slowly managing to be the first to track down Dante's home, or by jumping on Laxus when he was activating the teleport to Dantes home, all at first for the booze.
I wanted Dante to recruit her and teach her about liquor creation and go on for her to end up making loads of fantasy and wuxia type liquors with a variety of effects. If Dante happened to give her a new way to channel her massive mana reserves and potential instead of cards magic, no one would complain.
/: Ultear – She was another awesome character with loads of potential. I could have had a secret plot point about helping UR so she never died and working with Ultear after befriending her to tear down the dark guilds from the inside out while promising her a safe place to live and be if she ever wanted out. She would have been a huge help with research on time aspects for Dante to figure out immortality.
I'll ignore Rumi as I never introduced her, but she was going to be central to the next arc I was aiming to write for the slave country.
Another reviewer pointed out how I could do a trifecta and aim for Angel from OS, and I admit she is another very underdeveloped character who is both hot and has a lot of potential, both for the celestial magic and what kind of hidden thoughts might be in her head.
She could have paired very strongly with Dante's desire for freedom and adventure.
All of this is not including what I originally planned for Dante and the women, after all, he's a potion master and well, there are many things that can be altered. MWUHAHAHA~. Really tho, I won't pull a Naruto move, all things will remain within the bounds of the Fairy Tail universe, I'm just stretching the lore pretty far.
If dragons and gods could have existed and ruled, what else could there have been, right?
But these are just the points of why I wanted to use these women in the first place. It might work well for plot, but they can't compare to the awesomeness that is Dante X Virgo. I may still use them as close allies or occasional fling as a third to the sexual dynamic, but the pairing is solid.
…unless the story writes itself again…*sigh*…fml…my beta's hate me sometimes for good reasons.
MOVING ON!
Plot.
You all really surprised me here not gonna lie. I thought people were skimming my original content to get to the canon interactions and stuff. It makes me happy to know that I wasn't the only one who loved making world lore and setting the stage with stuff.
With that said, I will do my best to limit descriptions and keep things more streamlined while trying to capture the essence of it.
I AM NOT PERFECT. I never claim to be. I am 100% sure I'll have mistakes or plot holes, please don't attack me for them if it makes you upset. I'm not trying to piss people off and it helps no one to be pissed off at me. I can be very spiteful and petty at times lol.
To the point here, I'll keep the plot like the OLD version, but I'll either add more or change course in some ways to show more of what you all wanted.
I actually debated slowing things down a lot more, showing full chapters for every step of Dante and Virgo's journey through the time skip, but it would be a major challenge.
Instead, I'll keep the time skip, and if I ever get to it, I'll add in 'side story' chapters for periods of time I skipped over, showing more of the early stage adventure and bonding without impacting the flow of the main story.
And you all pretty much voted for everything I asked your preference on, so I guess we will just have to have more of everything.
More adventure and exploration, more Virgo, more potions and business, more Virgo, more snake kids, more celestial realm focus, more Virgo, more interacting with background character and Dante's and Virgo's close friends, and MOAR VIRGO.
I think I got everything, right? Yeah, I definitely did. I'll throw in some POV changes from characters that Dante changes and show what changes those characters come to.
One thing I learned a lot of from reading Vimenthusiast's stories, was how to try to make multiple short term changes that branch out to make substantial changes down the road without the MC being involved.
Again, I wont rapidly change the world overnight or something. I'm not adding some mysterious wuxia elements, a bunch of hidden ninja's, or creatures above Acnologia's level. Although those gods gotta be around somewhere.
I think you get my point anyway.
I'll do my best to keep things within the bounds of Fairy Tail's universe, but I do take inspiration from worlds like Toriko and Harry Potter for how to expand on existing elements.
Author Notes.
I'll leave footnotes in the chapters (AN: #1) if I want to say anything. I'll do it temporarily as an experiment and you all can tell me if it messes with your reading experience or not.
With that all said and done, lets jump right in.
Enjoy everybody and let me hear your thoughts.
Grammar corrections, suggestions, ideas, honest reviews are welcome, rants and raves are not.
