Hark: A quite pathetic poem I wrote when I had nothing to do. Entreri-related once again. Jarlaxle-poems might be more complicated (and fun), but I haven't tried them yet. As for this poem: Read, react, review, etc. Thank you.
Desert night
How can you see the stars
over the desert sands
when you've been taught
to see only the darkness all around?
Darkness around and within
resembling something you once knew,
feared and loathed,
wanted to forget.
Darkness that is now a part of you,
something like a true companion,
never abandoning you,
always close by.
The brightness of day
causes pain in your eyes,
you are blinded and your head aches
with sudden memory.
The little daggers of light
piercing the dark armour,
reaching places
you had protected so long.
Forgotten memories,
tears that have dried until they are
like the sand and the skeleton
in the desert under cold moon and dying stars.
Darkness within and around
until the sun rises in the morning;
the decisions so long avoided
have to be finally made.
