Spike's Story

It was windy the day that they buried her. It's always windy in Sunnydale, of course, but this was different. This wind carried her spirit through the air. I watched them from the shadows. They were gathered around the coffin, staring at the ground, looking deeply depressed. They should. Giles had his glasses off for the first time ever since her death. Dawn was crying into Xander's shoulder, and he had his arm wrapped around Anya's shoulder. Willow was trying hard not to show her sadness, and Tara was in another place. Her world. She wasn't moving, just.staring. Unresponsive of everything that was going on around her. I miss her.

After she died, I started having strange dreams about her. Somehow, things would be different. Glory died, Dawn was saved, and Hell wasn't unleashed upon Earth. These dreams were rare. Other times, I dreamt that I'd jump for her so she'd live. What's my life anyway? Nothing. So I'd jump. And she would live. Her sister would be happy. Everyone would be happy. Everyone would be thankful that I'd be gone. They are always complaining on how I should go away.

I cried every night that she was away. I went to her grave, and talked to her, even though I knew she couldn't talk back. My heart was filled with her. My memories of her. Giles asked me what was wrong, and I responded, "Nothing." Then he said, as if reading my mind, that he misses her too, we all do, even if we don't have a soul, we all loved her.

Xander came to me one night. He asked me if I wanted to watch Stargate with him. I didn't know what the point was. He said that he and Anya got into a fight again. I agreed, since I had nothing to do that night anyway.

After she died, we've all been a little nicer to each other. Tara and Willow are looking after Dawn during the day, and if they're busy at night, I watch after the Little Bit. Xander and I get along well with each other nowadays. But that's usually when we need to go on patrols. We can't risk our lives over some silly feud. Giles was more.actually, he stayed the same. When he decided to move away to England again, he gave us all a going away present. He gave me a cross.

Then.she came back. From the dead. I thought it was one of my silly dreams again, but she was real. She told me herself that she was in heaven. And that her friends pulled her out of there. I'm the only one who cares for her, who loves her. But she doesn't see that, does she?
