INTRO: The transgenic war had been over for 6 months and after a heroic last stand the Manticore brethren were free. Although this did not stop the outside world from still being sceptical, the blatant hatred was beginning to die down. Many transgenics lost their lives in the fighting but most importantly White and his posse were gone, dead, and not coming back. This let Max and her crew to return to a somewhat normal life, and a cure for the virus was even found. Max was back living with Original Cindy and Logan had returned to his penthouse apartment at Foggle Towers.

Things were good. The only set back was that the last transfusion by Joshua was slowly degenerating and Logan was once again dependant on his exoskeleton. Alec had strangely found love in Jem and had morphed almost overnight into the sole protector and guardian of little Grace. She was his world, every little whimper or cry Alec was there to rock her and even when he thought no one was looking, sing lullabies. Joshua and the rest of the trangenics were still camped at terminal city where they kept a watch on the mutant world making sure that everyone was fitting in and following the rules. In short everything was perfect. But it would not last.

Foggle Towers:

Max was trying to clear her head by riding her ninja home from Terminal City. She kept reliving the same scene over and over again. White, her arch enemy and hater or all things transgenic was the vivid image closest to the surface.

Flashback 6 months earlier, Terminal City: It was a pitch dark night, raining heavily and it was her turn to watch the barbed-wire fence surrounding the Terminal City compound. She was wet, cranky and in a crappy mood when who enters her vision but Alec.

"Hey Max, looks like we're on watch together tonight. It's not like I would get any sleep anyway with Hope crying the night away anyway. Plus I get the added bonus of your always cheery attitude," Alec added sarcastically. Max didn't even respond but instead began to walk along the wall in the opposite direction with her hands on her hips. As she walked away she could hear Alec running to catch up with her. "Jeez, what's gotten into you tonight Max? It's Logan again I'm sure. What did Mr. Perfect do tonight? Didn't match his wine to his fowl? Get it... fowl?" Alec began to giggle at his own bad joke, unaware of what was roaming outside the gate.

Max turned and stared gleaming in anger. "Won't you ever shut up Alec? Some people never change," she said turning around again when shots began to ricochet off the wall of the perimeter fence. "GET DOWN," Max yelled at the top of her lungs jumping on top of Alec.
