Not what one would think
She got up quietly, as not to awake her sleeping partner. She shivered as the freezing air hit her moist skin. The icy stone floor did no justice to her bare feet. Clothes were scattered around the bed chamber.

Lily abandoned the idea to look for her robes in the pitch blackness. She took his robes instead. It hung loosely on her. It smelled strongly of him. Musk, metal, cedar, sweat, rain, vanilla. Other scents were noticeable in the addicting mixture. This was a robe he had hugged her in, brewed potions in, traveled in. In his robes, Lily felt close to him.

She left Severus' room as quietly as she could. Always at his house, there was an eerie silence that hung in the air. Lily, feeling exhausted and intruding headed for her owl. It was in his study. Third entry on the left. The wooden door creaked open. Moonlight lit the room perfectly. Rolling back the only chair in the room and sitting down at his desk, a quill and pieces of parchment were spotted. Lily stared at the blank sheet now in front of her.

She froze. Severus was stirring. She needed to do what she had to and leave. Return to his side. Tersely she scribbled in the moonlight.

James,

I'll be back at home in a day or so. The department postponed the meeting. Staying at a muggle Inn.

Love,
Lily

"Here Darrow, Bring this to James."

Lily watched as her letter glided swiftly away on the leg of her owl.

"Thought you were somewhere around here..." Severus' husky voice came out of the darkness. Before Lily could turn around he bombarded her with kisses on her neck; his arms around her.

"I remembered that I forgot to tell him I wouldn't be returning tomorrow. He'd get suspicious if I didn't write him at all."

"He's too suspicious if you ask me." Severus said lazily. His hands were moving downwards.

"Well, he is my fiancé." Lily felt she needed to point out; wryly enough.

Severus spun her around with a mustered intensity. His grip on her now unclothed shoulders was harsh. But he still spoke in that same lazy tone. "Indeed, tell me when I should be expecting my invitation to the wedding."

Lily considered this then began laughing.

"Ah Severus, so you would like to see the day I become a Potter?" She teased him and rather enjoyed it.
"Why wouldn't I? I love a good show."

He leaned forward more and kissed her earlobe. He smelled of the night's happenings.

"Oh and it will be a good one." She said quieter than previous responses.

He inwardly smiled at this and took his love back to bed.
