My Other Half
For every self,
There is a shadow.
For every smile,
There is a frown.
As for the dainty sun,
Her sister, a sulky moon.
And as I look intently at my reflection
It stares right back at me.
Its bitter dark eyes,
Penetrate my own.
So different yet the same.
So far and yet so close.
I suddenly smile and say,
"My other half."
For every self,
There is a shadow.
For every smile,
There is a frown.
As for the dainty sun,
Her sister, a sulky moon.
And as I look intently at my reflection
It stares right back at me.
Its bitter dark eyes,
Penetrate my own.
So different yet the same.
So far and yet so close.
I suddenly smile and say,
"My other half."
