Disclaimer: Almost everything in here belongs to Squaresoft except the image I'm describing in this. I just put it together.
Author's note: Yet another school assignment. I bet my English teacher won't notice the 30 FF references in here. This was so fun to write! And it ended up being a darn good poem, too. Please notice that the first letters of each line spell FINAL FANTASY GAMES RULE. By the way, all the references come from either FFVII or FFIX because those are the only one's I've played so far. Well, enjoy. ^________________^ And please tell me if you find any references in here that I didn't make note of… I probably don't even know they are there.
Fantasies in the Sky
By Kiko Tomodachi
Inspired by Final Fantasy video games
For hours here I sit
Immersed in the patterns of the sky,
Never once limiting my imagination
as I observe in a trance.
An avalanche of silver white clouds
pours onto the cerulean backdrop
Letting the tranquility be a cure
for my strife.
Fantasies finally come to life as I watch
the puffs of white on slowly fading blue.
A high wind blows to summon a phoenix down
from the heavens to change the horizon's hue.
Now the clouds float through a sea of garnets,
colored red;
Thirteen mages casting fiery spells
upon the darkening sky;
A troop of soldiers braver than any other;
Silver dragons swooping in the air
or a one-winged angel.
Yellow garlands line the rusty color of the sky
Gaining brightness and accenting the coral clouds.
Again, the fluffy red clouds take shape,
Making a forgotten continent in the
ocean of the sky where
Enchanting tribesmen sing carols of ancient times.
Suddenly the crescent moon appears,
lifting in time with the tribal beat
Rushing to rise as the sky becomes blank;
Unleashing soft light among the scattering of stars.
Lonely owls hoot as a victory fanfare for the sun
which has now set.
Even now, the unrelenting melodies of life
among the quiet seem at peace.
For anyone who was curious here's a version with all the FF references in caps:
For hours here I sit
Immersed in the patterns of the sky,
Never once LIMITing my imagination
as I observe in a TRANCE.
An AVALANCHE of silver white CLOUDs
pours onto the cerulean backdrop
Letting the tranquility be a CURE
for my STRIFE.
FANTASIES FINALLY come to life as I watch
the puffs of white on slowly fading blue.
A HIGH WIND blows to SUMMON a PHONIX DOWN
from the heavens to change the horizon's hue.
Now the clouds float through a sea of GARNETSs,
colored RED;
THIRTEEN MAGES casting fiery spells
upon the darkening sky;
A troop of SOLDIERs BRAVER than any other;
SILVER DRAGONs swooping in the air
or a ONE-WINGED ANGEL.
Yellow GARLANDs line the RUSTY color of the sky
Gaining brightness and accenting the CORAL clouds.
Again, the FLUFFY* red clouds take shape,
Making a FORGOTTEN CONTINENT in the
ocean of the sky where
Enchanting tribesmen sing CAROLs of ANCIENT times.
Suddenly the CRESCENT moon appears,
lifting in time with the TRIBAL BEAT
RUSHing to rise as the sky becomes BLANK;
Unleashing SOFT** light among the scattering of stars.
Lonely owls hoot as a VICTORY FANFARE for the sun
which has now set.
Even now, the unrelenting MELODIES OF LIFE
among the quiet seem at peace.
*Not actually a reference. This is what my friend renamed Garnet/Dagger. I noticed it after I finished writing. I think it's funny that it's not on purpose.
** I also noticed this after I finished writing. I was thinking "I don't have any references in that line… hey, isn't there an item called soft?" and reference #30 was born.
