AN: In honour of Snitch week, and in honour of Lutells darling – my heart goes out to you *tackle hugs*

T'aint exactly happy, but it's the best I could come up with, in all its mediocre glory…

The trees dripped above his head, heavy with the weight of the melting snow.

"I dreamt of you last night."

His voice came out huskily, and he paused to clear his throat.

"You were in my dream. It was spring; one of those warm days in April when you can taste the springtime. We were walking in Central Park, your hand warm in mine, and you seemed to glow in the sunlight."

A smile danced across his lips for a moment.

"You were beautiful. And you smiled at me, that gorgeous little boy grin that I love, and you laughed when I kissed you. Your lips were rough against mine, and you tasted exactly like you always do – wonderful."

He sucked in a breath, and his voice wavered.

"You tasted wonderful. But you pulled away after only a minute, your eyes dancing with laughter, and in the split second before you raced off, I saw my hat clenched stealthily in your hand. You darted off, sprinting across the patchwork lawn of light and shadow, and you shouted – "I love you!"'

A tear stained the stone black where it fell, mingling with the tears of the trees falling from above.

"I raced after you – but somehow, you always managed to stay ahead of me, always laughing, always running, still holding my hat in your hand. I came so close that I could hear you breathing, I reached out a hand to grab you … and then I woke myself up."

He took a shuddering breath of regret.

"I was so close this time, Snitch. So close."

Skittery rose to his feet, fingertips brushing the unmarked gravestone as he stood. His eyes swept over the cemetery, every spot nameless, containing a body that would soon be forgotten, another personality blown away in the wind.

"I'll catch up to you one day."

AN: meh. I know it was merely okay, but review anyway? Just 'cause you love me?? *cheesy grin*
