A/N: *SPOILER* I have yet to read all of Kenshin or seen all of the anime yet, but I was inspired to write about the way Kaoru felt when Kenshin left her to raise their son alone (check out the OAVs for more information on that). Kaoru had to be strong enough to raise their child alone, and the boy grew up hating his father for leaving his mother who still longed for her lover. Nothing less is to be expected of Kaoru but to be one who stayed faithful and very much in love with the man who woke her from her loneliness-only to submerge her in it again.
THE RIGHT THING
*
Small Lady
Walking into the distance
Where
the earth reaches up to embrace the sky
I need you I need you
I miss you
Even
as the blood starts pouring down
Drench my soul, bring it forth
This oblivion of your footsteps heading away
The sun colors the sky in red shadows
Dusty road to soak up the loneliness
Tears falling upon the grass and my silk
Failing to be brave
Everything
I can give you
Child of my innocence lost to the night
I
wanted to be free in you
So I gave the stars a midnight to hide the light
Shielding out the dreams unspoken
Held on and birthed the legacy of my love
Go away go away go away
All I heard as the blood rushes elsewhere
Seeping in the ground as the golden hands swing from here
The river so vast and deep shinning in the midday sun
Oceans to bear you away to where you had to go
Calling you upon the back of the breeze so golden
Do what you have to do
My heart can't sleep
I
find comfort in the breaths of a child
With the sun setting on the road you took
Dusty fool of a girl that you left in your awake
Loving you enough to let you go
So you could been free in me
Stepping into the ravines of remaining pools
Eyes straining to count the depth of the stars of whispers
Lingering in the velvet dusk of scents left in the bush
Find the taste of you in my spoon
Walking out of sight, a silhouette on the mind
Hands teaching day to day
Ever listening to the words whirling in my head in all directions
Gossip of a thousand tongues telling your thousand tales
Swirly-eyed and desperate upon the host of the horizon
Vile old lies as they weave the net to capture a woman's hopes
Child crying out into the night song
Falling upon my knees I tried not to bite into the bitter grime
Hold my soul-your soul-close to my heart
The senses are overwhelming
As the blood comes pouring down
Believe I did the right thing
Make me believe I did the right thing
The right thing...
