Shooting Star

Colors whirled about and blurred together as an orchestra played somewhere. The music was vaguely heard above the chime of the occasional clink of crystal and foggy hums of droning conversations, none of which could be comprehended properly by my disregarding ears. The massive hall was lit by mellow amber rays emitted by countless pale candles on the table and from the gold chandeliers, suspended by thick chains to the voluminous glass dome ceiling high overhead.
Above, a majestic sight greeted me. The sun had set hours ago, but I had not the chance to glance upon the heavens. Stars glittered like diamonds amongst dark velvet. I stood there, awestruck, my jaw slightly ajar. The clamor around me faded and I heard nothing but the sound far in the celestial abyss. A pallid streak of light flashed across the unchanging scene and faded away.
Though astonished, I broke my gave from the starry heavens and reverted it in a certain direction, as if someone had called my name. It seemed as if an invisible pathway was formed and everyone cleared my line of view to see a girl standing on the opposite side of the room. If anything, she was more breathtaking than the celestial expanse seen through the dome. Her fair face was framed by raven black hair, with the exception of a couple lighter highlights, that curled gracefully around her slender shoulders. The girl's skin was a glowing pale, which reminded me of the radiance of the stars and moon. Her dress was a complimenting off-white which matched the supposed atmosphere of the room.
She flashed me a charming smile and indicated with a pale finger to the glimmering sky then mouthed something to me, her blood wine lips perfectly readable...
"Shooting star."
