I Failed
The beast falls, and all is silent.
But that's exactly what's wrong, it's too quiet.
No sounds of life, no gratitude,
All is silent and dark, and then I see.
You're not here, only a body.
Only a shell remains, where you once were.
I can't believe I failed, the beast won.
You were so young, why did this happen?
I was like a brother, and you, my sister.
Yet I failed in my duties to protect you like I should have.
Now you're gone, and who's to blame?
Me, and all my failure, and this beast on the floor.
No, it's that beast! It's the beast's fault, not mine!
It stole you away, it took your life!
It deserved to die for stealing you away, and now that it has,
You have been avenged.
But who am I kidding, it's all my fault.
I wasn't there for you, I failed.
Now you're gone, and I'm alone.
Because I failed.
