History Rewritten
.
Summary: Harry Potter's life was drastically changed because of his parents' decision to switch their Secret-Keeper. But what if they hadn't? What would have happened if Sirius remained the one?
Disclaimer: All familiar characters are property of J.K. Rowling. Any ones you don't recognise are mine.
A/N: Please, review. One of the reasons I've temporarily stopped working on my other HP fic is because I got no feedback, and therefore am suffering from a serious lack of motivation, so yeah. Review.

"For the last time, Sirius, we're sure!"
James Potter paced inside of the Leaky Cauldron, where he was arguing with his best friend, Sirius Black.
The two had been close since their childhood days at Hogwarts. They'd spent innumerable hours together, getting into mischeif and talking about a myriad of subjects, but this was different. This time, the Potters were going into hiding, and Sirius was trying to talk James out of making him their secret-keeper.
"But James," Sirius protested, "I'll be the first person You-Know-Who suspects. I know Dumbledore won't do it, but even if you go with Peter, it would buy you so much more time."
"No." James held firm. "Sirius, man, you can do this! You know you're stronger than Peter, bless him, and I'll really feel much safer if I know that you're the one."
Sirius sighed. He knew he wasn't going to win this arguement. "Allright, James. I just hope you know what you're doing."
"I do." James insisted. He turned to leave. "Are you coming?"
Sirius sat back in his chair, shaking his head. "I've got a few things I need to take care of. You go ahead, and tell Lily that I said hello."
James nodded, and left.
When he arrived home, his wife, Lily, was in the kitchen, bouncing their one-year-old son, Harry, on her lap. James gave her a quick kiss, and tousled Harry's hair. "Sirius said hello." he said, going into the cupboard.
"James Potter, get away from those Chocolate Fogs," Lily said in a mock-warning tone. "I was just about to start dinner."
James slunk away from the candy, and took Harry out of Lily's arms. "Come on, son. Let's go outside and watch some quidditch, hmm?"
"Don't let him run around after the big kids," Lily called after them, "He's liable to get hit by a bludger."
"We won't let that happen, will we, sport?" James asked. Harry cooed in response. "I didn't think so." With that, James hoisted his son onto his shoulders, and set out to enjoy one of the last days they had left before disappearing from sight.
