The Public Enemy

The idea came after I read a book of a brazilian writer, Moacyr Scliar
Kuno Tatewaki, the public enemy, woke up seven in the morning. The world can be coming to an end, but Kuno always wakes up this time, seven o'clock. It's not easy to wake up that early, since he has to hear his crazy sister, Kodachi talk almost all night about some guy she loves. Still he has a mission to accomplish. Kuno gets his suit, a tie, social pants, socks, shoes and a hat. He goes to the bus stop and wait. After ten minutes, the bus comes and he gets in. He looks around searching for the best place to sit. He chooses a place beside a purple haired woman. As the bus moves again, Kuno turns to the woman and says,
"You are a very ugly woman"
First, the woman doesn't understand. "What?"
"You are a very ugly woman", Kuno repeats and adds, "You are the ugliest woman in this bus, maybe the ugliest in the whole city"
The woman thinks that he is kidding, but Kuno continues, "You are mean, ugly and mean, an abort of nature". It's curious that his voice has no anger. He talks as he is praying, something very formal, but this doesn't do any good to him. The woman stands up and call him all the names that come in her head at that moment - stupid, dirt, jerk - and hits Kuno several times. An angered driver throws Kuno out of the bus. Falls, rolls on the ground - a public enemy has his problems too.
After sometime Kuno enters in a restaurant and order an okonomiyaki. The girl serves and wishes him a good meal. He eats half of the japanese pizza and call the woman. She approaches as he says something in a very low voice,
"It's awful"
The woman is startled, thinks she heard things, "What?", she says and Kuno repeats, "Your food is awful". This woman thinks that he must be kidding, after all, she is the best in what she does. Cook okonomiyaki is her life. Kuno continues, "I would never give this to anyone, even to my worst enemy. Pigs eat better things than this", the woman gets her spatulas and throws them at Kuno who escapes running from the restaurant. Not only the woman, but also her customers helped to kick Kuno out of the store.
Kuno walks some more as he sees a girl with a short hair resting on a park bench after some exercise. Kuno looks at her sometime. She thinks that is another guy trying to meet her, she is used to it. Then Kuno approaches. The girl is selecting the answers she has to situations like this when he says,
"You look like a man"
This got the girl. She doesn't have any answer for something like that. "Excuse me?", she says, thinking she didn't heard well.
"I said that you look like a man. This muscles, the way you move, you look like a man. Maybe you are a man after all. And I've never saw someone who looks so much like a man. Did you change your sex?", that did it. The woman gets a mallet out of nowhere and hits Kuno furiously. Then she gets him by his neck and if there were nobody around she would kill him. The people around separate them and Kuno runs away.
Kuno walks back home. He has wounds all around his body, but he did what he had to do. Yet, he thinks that he lost something. Then he remembered the blind guy selling lottery on the corner of his street. "You give bad luck", of course, why couldn't he think of that before? He gets his hat and puts over his head. "You give bad luck", he says as he goes to accomplish his mission as the public enemy.
